Exterity, which is headquartered in Dalgety Bay, Fife near Edinburgh, are looking for Graduate Software Engineers to work within our engineering teams initially for 12 months, with the possibility that it could become a permanent position for the right candidates. These roles are ideally suited to graduates who are able to demonstrate their capabilities in an environment which will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure.

Project Description

Over the duration of the placement you will be working on real live project of our customers and this will allow you to gain exposure of working on commercial projects and you will be able to develop your current understanding of technology in a practical setting.

During your placement you will get to put your technical skills into practice.

Role Description

Here at Exterity, we challenge our engineering teams to develop and build applications that span our range of IPTV products, from head end through to set top box and server, building a coherent and comprehensive technology stack. We call it create, play, control.

Software development that’s elegant, snappy and clean is an art form. As an Exterity Graduate Software Engineer, your code will be used by professional AV system administrators and embedded in end user products used by consumers like you.

We’re used to developing eager grads into fully grown tech gods who can make our chins drop, and we will help you turn your degree theory into Dev reality.

If you have graduated in Computer Science, Electronics or a related discipline, this could be the opportunity for you.

Skills / Experience

Essential Skills

As a graduate, you should have previous experience with the following technology:

  • Coding in C
  • Linux operating systems
  • Web development including HTML, CSS, PHP, AJAX, JavaScript
  • SQL databases
  • IP networking solutions
  • Digital video technologies

Desirable Skills

  • Attention to detail
  • Good written/verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
