Placement summary
Bellrock Technology is seeking to hire a skilled, driven and creative graduate to support the delivery of a significant business development project.
The role will directly support the executive team in customer engagement and include support and relationship management during commercial projects and product implementations. The successful candidate will work with customers to align product sales to their needs and help to identify and open fresh opportunities with new and existing prospects.
The placement will be based at our main office in Glasgow city centre and is for 12 months. The opportunity exists for the position to become a permanent role, subject to the successful completion of project objectives.

Project Description
Bellrock Technology is an early-stage, growing business. Our software is used by major energy utilities in the UK but much wider opportunities exist internationally and across industry sectors. This project will raise the company’s profile and support its ambitions for high growth. The role will be varied, require self-initiative and contribute to all stages of the marketing and sales cycle. It would be ideally suited for candidates wishing to develop their career into business leadership and executive responsibility whilst gaining experience of a growing product-driven business.
The placement will offer a wide-range of professional and personal development opportunities and the chance to learn a variety of new skills. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, board directors and experienced commercial advisors and so gain valuable insights into commercial strategy and business management.
Placement Objectives
The primary aim of the project is to grow the company’s customer base, both within its home market and internationally. Its success will be measured in terms of:
- New customer sales
- Growth of existing customer sales
- Qualified leads
- International / wider market opportunities identified and developed
- Growth of relevant online and social media followers
Role Description
The role will report to the Chief Executive Officer.
Key responsibilities and duties of the role will include:
- Supporting the executive team in developing the company's customer pipeline:
- Identifying opportunities
- Qualifying prospects
- Developing and tracking detailed bids and proposals
- Ensuring successful delivery of customer projects:
- Liaising with the Operations team to ensure deliverables are met
- Documentation and reporting
- Maintaining customer details
- Identifying opportunities for recurring sales
- Coordinating, preparing and supporting sales presentations
- Working with senior management and commercial advisors to develop marketing strategy and outreach material to generate inbound enquiries, including:
- Website and blogs
- Social media
- Email marketing campaigns
- Print materials for both direct customer engagement and wider marketing at exhibitions tradeshows, etc
- Analytics and benchmarking
- Assessing competitors and helping to develop value propositions
- Preparing pipeline, sales and opportunity reports for board and investor communications
- Maintaining excellent customer relations and communications with clients
- Working with the wider team to meet the company's objectives and targets as outlined in its business plan
- Undertaking other such reasonable duties as required by the Chief Executive Officer
Qualifications
We are open to hearing from candidates with a degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and an interest in marketing and business development or vice versa.
Skills / Experience
Essential Skills
- High level of proficiency in the English language, IT and numeracy
- Knowledge of the electricity, energy and/or IT systems integration sector(s)
- Ability to work both independently on one's own initiative and as part of a wider team
- Effective time management and the ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment
- Flexible approach and ability to react to changes in requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desirable Skills
- Experience of technology sales into utilities or equivalent operational engineering environments
- Commercial experience in using social media to expand company reach and engagement
- Knowledge and experience of inbound marketing strategies
- Experience of using customer relationship management, sales pipeline, project management and other team-working software support systems
- Knowledge and understanding of agile software development principles
- Market research experience
- Involvement in the preparation and submission of proposals
- Experience of international deal-making
