TMS Kits Direct Ltd have an excellent opportunity for a Graduate IT Systems Assistant to work with us on a key business project. You will be tasked with analysing and auditing the existing computerised systems and networks as well as the organisational and user requirements, in order to create procedures to automate or improve existing systems and improve business efficiency. This is a 12 month placement, with potential for a permanent role, based in East Kilbride and is ideally suited for an IT graduate, ready to deploy your skills and knowledge in an environment which will enhance your career prospects.

Job description

Project Description

We are looking to improve business efficiency by overhauling our computerised systems and networks. We would expect that this project will result in all computer systems running operating systems that will have support lasting for several years and that the production will run more efficiently with faster data access for those requiring it.

You will analyse the organisational and user requirements, as well as carrying out an audit of existing computerised systems of the organisation, engineering upgrades and changes required to the data processing systems. You will then assess and implement required improvements, e.g. creating procedures to automate or improve existing systems, and assist users with problem-solving.

  • This is a full time position, initially for the 12 month placement period, but may be extended
  • The working day is from 8:00 until 4:45, Mon-Thu and 8:00 – 2:15pm Fri
  • The place of work will be in the main offices in East Kilbride but will also cover other premises that the Group has or may have in the future

Placement Objectives

The main benefits from the successful delivery of this project will be that the departments will improve efficiency of the data processing systems and future proofing of the overall IT infrastructure.

Role Description

We are looking for a young and enthusiastic individual to join our consistently expanding team. We are looking for someone to provide technical support and problem diagnosis for end-users with particular focus on delivering a high standard of customer service. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills within one of Scotland’s leading furniture manufacturers. We hope you can add creativity to help develop other areas of the business such as marketing and social media avenues.

Key tasks will include:

  • Confer with users regarding the nature of the information processing or computation needs that they have
  • Consult with management to ensure agreement on system principles
  • Coordinate and link the computer systems within the organisation to increase compatibility and so information can be shared
  • Document business requirements using a formal approach and methodology
  • Determine computer software or hardware needed to set up or alter system
  • Develop, document and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards
  • Expand or modify systems to serve new purposes or to improve work flow
  • Provide staff and users with assistance in solving computer related problems, such as malfunctions and program problems
  • Read manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn how to develop programs that meet staff and user requirements
  • Review and analyse computer printouts and performance indicators to locate problems, and correct errors by correcting procedures and instigating training where necessary
  • Co-ordinate the installation of computer programs and systems.

Qualifications

Graduate from an HNC, HND, Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline, e.g. computing/networking.

Company information

TMS (Kits Direct Ltd.) was Established in April, 2001. Based in a prime network location in East Kilbride, our first purpose built unit (approx. 7 thousand square feet) was opened to manufacture and supply high quality rigid built kitchen furniture to the trade including Housing Associations, Councils and Contract Builders. Our ridged build cabinets quickly established themselves as one of the best in the industry. Due to the success of our products and service we are now operating from a facility of approx 50 thousand square feet with some of the most up to date machines available within our industry and at present we have a staff of 85. Our present production allows for approx 1000-1500 units per week on a dayshift/nightshift basis. Our rigid built 18mm units come complete with doors and all hardware fitted ready for installation, this not only ensures that the product arrives complete but dramatically reduces fit time.  We have a state of the art showroom and design centre, which is available for customers use, showing a range and quality of products second to none in Scotland.

We have recently re-branded our retail brand and business to business sector Jackton Moor to expand our opportunities to new and exciting areas of the industry. We are now supplying Kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms,etc.

We are working with Hotels, residental Care homes, new builds, vetinary surgeries, dental surgeries, along with Retail customers.
