Job description

Project Description

#hellodigital connects business and technology. Our goal is to support enterprises of all sizes, in all sectors, to exploit digital technology in the way they promote and operate their business. We will launch in March 2016 with a varied timetable of briefings, workshops and networking events. We will:

  • Bring together business leaders, technology experts and academic research;
  • Explore business use of digital technology;
  • Share experience, facts, trends and discoveries.

#hellodigital will be opening a new centre based at the Inverness Campus shortly. This is the first centre, in a potential network of centres across Scotland. Our initial focus will be on the Highlands and Islands. However, we are keen to engage across Scotland. A primary goal is to promote Scottish success stories in order to inspire others, raise expectations and demonstrate ‘real life’ business benefits.

We have an exciting line-up of events with technology leaders including Google, IBM, and Microsoft and we are also showcasing technology from Virtual-Reality to Drones/Unmanned Ariel Vehicles. The successful candidate will be required to help us to promote these events online, through social media and video channels in order to increase online engagement with the centre, thereby increasing the reach and benefit of the activities that would otherwise be contained within the centre. Training and support will be provided to try out new apps, techniques and channels.

Specific tasks of the placement will include:

  • Reviewing HIE’s use of social media channels to engage customers and stakeholders to improve corporate accountability and promote business opportunities.
  •  Analysing and reporting on HIE’s social media engagement.
  • Contributing to the evolution of HIE’s social media strategy by recommending best practice for HIE.
  • Advising and assisting HIE staff to optimise HIE’s use of social media channels.

Methods:

  • Video streaming
  • Video publishing
  • Creation of online content – based on activities/expertise in the centre
  • Promotion and publication via online channels and social media

Measurement:

  • Users watching live stream
  • Analytics about online view of video
  • Reach and following of online channels – email, social media, views.
