Placement summary

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) is recruiting for a Digital Marketing Officer for an exciting 12-month placement focussing on digital and social media to enhance HIE’s marketing activities. The successful candidate will input to the development of a social media strategy as well as monitor, evaluate and analyse HIE’s use of social media channels to enhance engagement from customers and stakeholders.

Project Description

The project will achieve professional and consistent use of digital and social media channels, improving HIE’s openness and accountability.

It will enhance our marketing activities by helping the organisation most effectively reach the growing numbers of people using social media to access and share news and information.

The successful graduate will input to the development of a social media strategy enabling HIE to exploit these channels as marketing opportunities for our services and promoting the region.

The project will allow HIE to answer any questions posted to HIE through social media swiftly and accurately.


Specific tasks of the placement will include: 

  • Reviewing HIE’s use of social media channels to engage customers and stakeholders to improve corporate accountability and promote business opportunities.
  • Benchmarking HIE’s approach against best practice in use of social media, particularly in the public sector.
  • Analysing and reporting on HIE’s social media engagement.
  • Contributing to the evolution of HIE’s social media strategy by recommending best practice for HIE.
  • Advising and assisting HIE staff to optimise HIE’s use of social media channels.
  • Monitoring and evaluating social media which mentions HIE.
  • Co-ordinating timely and accurate answers to questions and comments which require a response from HIE.

Qualifications

A recent degree qualification in a relevant subject.

Skills / Experience

Essential Skills

  • Experience in the use of social media platforms
  • Ability to creatively present information and ideas
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to show initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Confident in the use of ICT in particular Microsoft applications

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of managing social media platforms for marketing campaigns
  • Experience in or knowledge of digital analytic tools
  • Experience of project delivery
  • Gaelic language skills (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Ability to apply knowledge and skills in a business context
