Clear Returns offer an excellent opportunity for a Data Manipulation Analyst to work in our Glasgow Office for a 6 month role. Working with the Data Analytics team, you will be building and developing predictive solutions for our retail clients. The recent winner of 'Top Tech Start-Up' in Europe, Clear Returns’ enterprise level software provides predictive analytics interventions to help retailers reduce the number of returns. We work with large retail companies across the EU, and you could have the opportunity to work with major international technology partners. This is an exciting, fast-paced 6 month position that will give you amazing paid experience, with the potential for permanent role after successful completion of the short-term contract.

Project Description

Your responsibility is to manage, clean, and transform our client’s data for inclusion into our predictive modelling product. The role has great room for creativity in many areas including, but not limited to: data analysis, data visualization, data transformation, and the creation of automated data-based pipelines. The candidate will need to the ability to work collaboratively as part of the analytics team and also individually on specific projects and requests.

The role requires that you:

  • Be self starting and actively expand your knowledge base.
  • Discover problems and advocate your own solutions.
  • Challenge existing work and propose design changes.

Role Description

Candidates must be able to demonstrate previous experience manipulating large datasets and transforming data/variables to derive meaningful information and insights. Clear Returns is tool/language-agnostic, so candidates with experience in Python, R, SPSS, Excel or other are welcome to apply.
The successful candidate will:

• Develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimise statistical efficiency and data quality.
• Interpret data and analyse results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
• Filter and ‘clean’ data and review indicators to locate and correct code problems.
• Maintain database / data systems.
• Identify, analyse and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
• Work closely with analytics team to prioritise business and information needs.
• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

All degrees accepted if candidates can prove they meet the essential skills. The technical skills noted in our essential criteria are all just that: essential.

We utilise a technical testing process to recruit, and the post will only be offered to a candidate who passes this test and can successfully justify their approach and rationale.

Skills / Experience

Essential Skills

• BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics or similar.
• Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques.
• Knowledge of and expertise with database (SQL, MySQL) and programming languages (Python, R or other).
• Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analysing large datasets (Excel, SPSS etc).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
• Experience with Machine Learning is preferable.
