ScotGrad can provide support to recruit suitable student placements.
If you have a business or social enterprise in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, and you work with Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) already, ScotGrad can provide support to fill short student placements during the summer (June to September), although work-based placements can also be supported throughout the academic year. Placements with a focus on maximising languages as an asset are also open to applications from non-HIE supported clients.
Like our graduate placement programme, it's all about finding someone who can gain valuable experience whilst completing a short, well-defined project with a definite impact on your organisation.
You pay a minimum hourly rate for an undergraduate student, currently at University or College and returning after the summer, or a graduate about to go on to further study. 50% of the eligible salary cost, excluding employer National Insurance contributions, will be subsidised by HIE (minimum of £8.75 per hour to a maximum of £9.30 per hour).
Placements can last up to 12 weeks. The student will also benefit from two days of free training to sharpen their business innovation and personal skills which will help them to apply these to your placement project. At the end of the project, we'll ask for a report on how your student placement got on and what was achieved.
