Placement summary

For over five years, ScotGrad has been facilitating the Summer Placement Programme in the Highlands and Islands. We are now looking for an enthusiastic individual to help us deliver this year’s Summer and Gaelic Summer Placement Programmes. The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and time management skills to ensure the programme is delivered efficiently and effectively. 

The candidate will be also required to co-ordinate two training courses and the Closing Ceremony on 19th August 2016 in Inverness, where students who have participated in the programmes will present about their placements.

This is a 12-16 week placement (depending on the availability of the successful candidate).

Job description

Project Description

The successful candidate will gain experience of project management and delivery, client and student engagement, events management and digital marketing.

Specific tasks of the placement will include:


Management and delivery of the Summer and the Gaelic Summer Placement Programmes

  • Carry out and manage the administration processes to HIE and EU standards which includes creating and maintaining comprehensive records on HIE’s internal project systems.
  • Ensure HIE’s internal processes are complied with at all times in respect of finance, reporting, and record keeping.
  • Undertake monitoring of students and employers once during the summer placement period.
  • Gather data and monitor progress to ensure compliance with HIE and EU requirements.
  • Act as a point of contact within the team for internal and external queries relating to the summer placements.


Promotion and marketing

  • Raising awareness of the programme and its opportunities.
  • Marketing of the programme – running marketing campaigns, researching other advertising opportunities, management of social media.
  • Creation of case studies, both film and written.


Co-ordinate training courses and the Closing Ceremony for students

  • Undertake duties relating to organisation of the events (two training courses in July and the Closing Ceremony in August), such as catering bookings, attendee lists and guest speakers.
  • Check and process small travel claims made in connection with the summer placements.


Other Duties

  • Perform any other duties that will further the Summer and Gaelic Summer Placement Programmes including supporting the wider ScotGrad Programme.
  • Respond efficiently to requests for information or resources.
  • Provide excellent customer service when dealing with internal colleagues or external contacts.
  • Assist with advertising and recruitment of placement vacancies if required.
  • Promote a climate of accountability, openness, collaboration and innovation.
  • Ensure appropriate compliance with all aspects of HIE governance, including risk management and HIE audit and compliance requirements.
  • Any other duties that maybe required, as specified by your line manager.

This vacancy is available to candidates that are eligible under either the Highlands and Islands Summer Placement Programme or the Graduate Placement Programme. 

Interviews for this post will be held on Thursday 12th May 2016 in Inverness.

Preferred start date is Monday 23rd May 2016. 

This position is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Qualifications

A higher national qualification or a degree. All subjects will be considered provided the candidate has the required skills/experience.
