Placement summary

Red Fox Media has an exciting opening for a motivated graduate with programming skills and a mathematical / data modelling background. The successful individual will join our team in helping grow our business operations by designing and building software to support the development of our Application solution set. This is a 12 month placement, with the potential of a permanent role thereafter. We are currently based at Eskbank in Midlothian but will be moving to offices in the centre / east of Edinburgh.

Project Description

At Red Fox Media we have developed and launched a unique product, called AdAppTive, that delivers targeted digital advertising and content into a range of digital publishing platforms. We have deployed a number of leading edge technology and application solutions to support our business proposition and are continuously improving and refining the solutions in line with client demands. Additionally we have an ongoing research and development programme to create new product opportunities that add value to our growing client base.

The technology solution stack includes Hortonworks HBase/Hadoop with PostgreSQL coupled with JAVA, HTML and a number of open source solution tools.

With the growth of the business we are undertaking a number of projects to add further scale to the software solution set to grown the core solution architecture to meet client demands and business growth plans. The scope of this particular project is to:

• Develop data and file management solutions for our ad serving and data management applications.
• Develop and implement data profiling tool sets and data modelling techniques.
• Design, develop and implement a range of core application components associated with data loaders, batch query extracts, AI algorithms, and third party API integrations.
• Develop technical and business level system documentation.
• Perform test planning and execution.

This project is a key component in the development of the AdAppTive application solution suite and we require to engage a suitability qualified individual to bring the required skills into the Company to deliver on the project objectives.

Placement Objectives

As a result of this placement the candidate will have designed, developed, implemented and tuned a number of software applications that are key enablers for the development of the Red Fox business operations.

The success of the project will be based on the successful implementation of the specified software and the production support of the changes implemented.

Role Description

Based at our Edinburgh Offices, the graduate will be vital in delivering robust software changes that are central to the growth of the business. They will be required to design and implement new software modules and solutions and contribute to the overall design of the AdAppTive architecture.

Reporting into our Chief Operating Officer you will work across both Operations and Sales and work with business and technical staff and suppliers. You will play a key role in developing and implementing software solutions and the management of data library systems. In the delivery of the project you will be required to work very closely with some of our key partners and will work on site in their offices in Edinburgh from time to time. You may additionally be required to visit Client sites from time to time with the occasional overnight stays.

Red Fox Media is a small but fast growning company and the graduate will have the opportunity to play a key part in helping shape the organisation and participate in a range of innovative activities.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, build and implement and support application software solutions.
• Design, build and implement data management procedures associated with a number of file management systems.
• Design, build and implement data query, extract and reporting modules.
• Design, build and implement data loaders, batch query modules, Ai modules and third party API integrations
• Carry out test planning and execution of own developments and developments of others
• Participate in the design of AdAppTive architecture.

Qualifications

Graduate from an HNC, HND or an Undergraduate, or Postgraduate degree. A background in Maths would be beneficial.
