Placement summary
Highland Fayre, Scotland’s largest and most experienced gift hamper company, is offering an excellent opportunity to be at the start of an exciting new product launch - helping to set up the business across several online channels, promoting and then managing the transactions thereafter. The successful candidate would be responsible for web content management (uploading all product details onto e-commerce channels and maintaining thereafter) and assisting with various promotional marketing activities such as database management, email marketing, social media, writing blogs and possibly producing podcasts. This 12 month placement would be ideal for someone with a marketing, business management or IT systems background.
Job description
Project Description
This year Highland Fayre have made a significant investment in new laser and impact engraving machines, plus upgraded our online software to handle personalised gift orders (similar functionality as www.gettingpersonal.co.uk and www.notonthehighstreet.com).
Our aim is to add personalised gifts onto our traditional range of gift hampers and thus appeal to a wider audience all year round. No other gift hamper company in the UK is embracing the rise in personalisation in this way (several personalise the presentation packaging only, but not the contents).
Placement Objectives
This job provides an excellent opportunity to be at the start of an exciting new product launch - helping to set up across several online channels, promote, and then manage the transactions thereafter. This A-Z role will embrace many areas of a modern business and will therefore suit someone who enjoys the challenge of multitasking.
In 2004 our e-commerce sales were less than 5% of our total sales. Now they are 25%. The objective of this project is to increase this to at least 32% over the next 12 months and 50% by 2018. If this project achieves all year round growth for Highland Fayre in this way then there is a possibility that the role would become a full time postion.

Company information
Established in 1985, Highland Fayre is Scotland’s largest and most experienced Gift Hamper Company, with the head office in Perth and satellite office in Aberdeen. In 1997 we created our first web site www.highlandfayre.co.uk and soon after added www.christmashamper.com. In recent years we have added several other e-commerce channels including multiple shops on Amazon and eBay.
We trade all year round, although the peak period is in November and December in the run up to Christmas. We are very keen to spread our activity across the rest of the year and hence the introduction of personalised gifts for any occasion.
We currently manufacture approximately 40,000 hampers a year for over 7,000 customers.
