Placement summary
Charles River is a major global contract research organisation providing research services to pharmaceutical companies worldwide. This placement will consist of conducting a market research project focusing on identifying new opportunities for Charles River’s business. This will involve looking at new geographical markets and also reviewing the potential for new therapeutic area focus. The successful candidate will also support the updating of the company’s global internal Expert Database by categorising individual expertise and experience. This is a 12 week role, based in East Lothian.
Job description
Project Description
This project will provide added support to Charles River’s business development activities. By identifying and qualifying new leads, this project will contribute essential support to growing and developing business for Charles River’s Safety Assessment business. The project is intended to deliver pre-qualified, fully researched and scoped out opportunities to Charles River’s sales team, which will involve desk-based research activities. Success will be determined by the number and quality of new leads generated and, ultimately, by new business generated.
The student will be responsible for reviewing, analysing and collating information on potential new clients for Charles River. This will involve online research using Charles River’s internal Client Relationship Management (CRM) system and online websites. The student will be responsible for planning and managing the research process and collating and reporting the information in a format suitable for use by European territory based sales staff.
The Expert Database project aspect of the internship will involve interactions with Charles River’s US Marketing Team, which will provide fantastic experience for the successful student.
Qualifications
This placement is part of The Scottish Life Sciences Internship Programme. The programme is only open to students in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year, who are studying an undergraduate Life Science Degree in Scotland.
