Job description

Project Description

At Blipfoto, we believe life is worth celebrating every day.

We have a global community who take and share just one photo a day, creating a curated digital diary of their life.

Collectively Blipfoto is the sum of its parts. We have now recorded over 4 million days of human life around the planet and we’re on the cusp of rapid international growth.

We're looking for a talented PHP developer to join our small focused development team.

Placement Objectives

The main objective is to help us bring more users into the community, especially in the US, through enhanced features.

Role Description

The role is a junior PHP developer. You'll have responsibility and independence from day one and work closely with our internal and external designers, developers and marketing teams to build elegant code to scale.

The project will include:

  • Development of core features, including search, content discovery and our API
  • Integration of 3rd party services and SDKs
  • Focus on scalability and performance
  • Input into product roadmap and technical decision making.

Qualifications

Graduate from an undergraduate, postgraduate Degree, HNC or HND qualification, in computer science, web development or other related field.

Skills / Experience

Essential Skills

  • Object-oriented PHP
  • Experience with MySQL and database design strategies
  • Version control (we use Git)
  • Write clean, elegant code to scale

Desirable Skills

  • A great candidate might also have experience with Redis, Gearman, Elasticsearch, or AWS
  • Coding experience during studies or in a work environment would be ideal.

Benefits

Company benefits

Working with Blipfoto, you'll get real hands on experience of PHP development for a global customer facing site and join a small start up team through expansion into the US market and beyond.

It is likely that you will be sitting beside experienced developers and we offer a supportive learning environment. You will have the opportunity for in-house training on potentially less familiar platforms or languages.

Placement benefits

As part of ScotGrad Graduate Placement Programme, the successful candidate will have access to a free two day business and employability skills residential course and also benefit from ongoing support from the ScotGrad team throughout the duration of the placement.
