Tomintoul & Glenlivet Development Trust is recruiting for a Graduate Business Development Manager to support the regeneration strategy. This 12 month role will involve developing the income streams and operation of the trading company, with particular focus to the Museum and Visitor Information Centre and Youth Hostel.

Project Description
The role offers a wide variety of experience and new challenges and will provide the right graduate with a hands on management role. Each project involves undertaking research into potential opportunities and exploring other best practice models. The role involves developing and implementing business models which can be successfully implemented within a rural economy.
The role will focus on making both the Smugglers Hostel and the Museum and Visitor Information Centre long term sustainable business models with strong revenue generating opportunities, providing the local community with a vibrant future.
Specific tasks of the placement will be:
• Support in the development of the business model to take the Smugglers Hostel from a seasonal business to a year round company, undertaking competitor analysis, pricing analysis and customer liaison.
• Develop and implement a marketing and sales strategy for both aspects of the trading company, including social media, direct mail, online and print advertising.
• Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment strategy for the Museum and VIC/Hostel to ensure sufficient support is available for 2015 season.
• Develop a viable retail strategy, sourcing suppliers and finalising pricing for the Museum and VIC in Tomintoul, exploring best practice in other visitor engagement facilities.
• Research and implement an activity booking system and advertising/sponsorship opportunities to increase revenue for the VIC.
• Implement a number of small scale events throughout peak months to attract footfall to the VIC & Museum.
• Work with the community and local organisations to engage volunteers and implement placements to support different aspects of the trading company.
• Identify opportunities to work with the community to capture the local heritage and oral history to be included within the Heritage Lottery Fund projects.
• Identify potential partners for new community, tourism or business initiatives that support the trading company businesses.
• Streamline processes and procedures for all aspects of the trading company to ensure efficient operations.
• Create handover document/staff manual for all of the above.
This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.

TGDT was established to address the economic decline which had been experienced locally. The trust are working on a wide variety of projects from maintaining the museum and visitor information centre to operating the Hostel in Tomintoul. TGDT aims to benefit both the local community and those visiting the area. This project will allow the area to develop long term income sources through facilities that benefit both the residents and visitors.
