Placement summary

The Pier Arts Centre in Stromness, Orkney is home to important collections of modern and contemporary art. The gallery and museum enjoys Visit Scotland 5 Star status and is an Accredited museum with a Recognised Collection of National Significance to Scotland. 

  

This exciting 12 week project requires a student to carry out audience and market research, to identify current gaps in provision that offer opportunities to develop new products or services.

Job description

Project Description

The project will assist the Pier Arts Centre to assess and analyse its visitor profile and identify opportunities for growth. 

The project will update existing practice and inform the development of subsequent business activities, for example, retail development and the growth of the Centre’s commercial opportunities. 

The data gathered during the first phase of the project will be analysed to inform business development and to refresh marketing and audience development strategies as well as help to update other strategies such as communications, digital and retail.

Specific tasks of the placement will include:

Working Hours: Tuesday – Saturday; 35 hours per week 

This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.



Qualifications

Open to all current undergraduate degree students who will return to their studies after the summer. All candidates will be considered provided they have the required skills.
