The Edinburgh Collection, a privately-owned hotel group, has a great opportunity for a graduate with language skills to help them expand into overseas markets. The graduate will contribute to the international marketing strategy through market research and building social media brand, to increase bookings. This is a 12 month placement, with view to permanent hire, based in Edinburgh.

Project Description

The Edinburgh Collection are bringing on a graduate in order to put dedicated resource into help the business to grow and develop new markets with particular emphasis on overseas market development.

The key objective will be to increase direct booking international business by 5-10% over the initial 12 month period. Other measurables could include social media interactions with international travellers and potential clients, and feedback from European customers.

Role Description

We are seeking an individual fluent in English and at least one other key European language to assist in sales and marketing activity with a focus on developing growth in direct international business. As the successful candidate, you will work primarily with the Business Development Manager and the small sales and marketing team, but the role will stretch across all four hotels and will involve working with other teams across the group. You will carry out market research for both our consumer and trade activity as part of our international marketing strategy.

Day to day tasks will include:

  • Market research (online) e.g. to help establish country priorities for Business-to-Customer, relevant events and other opportunities around niche markets and new direct flight routes
  • Managing The Edinburgh Collection’s social media presence / marketing function with direction from the Business Development Manager (general leisure + niche market segments)
  • Tracking the company’s online profile internationally
  • International competitor and price monitoring
  • Updates of company website or key marketing material in English and other key languages if possible.
  • Qualifications

    Preferably minimum Undergraduate degree qualified (but other qualifications accepted) from a languages or marketing background. Other relevant disciplines considered, providing candidate can demonstrate skills listed.

    Skills / Experience

    Essential:

  • Must be fluent in at least one other key European language (Preferably Italian, French, German, or any Scandinavian language but other languages would also be useful)
  • Strong understanding of and experience of using social media platforms, preferably in a marketing context
  • Strong communications skills – written and verbal
  • Good team working skills for working in a small team environment
  • Strong organisational skills

    Ideal:

  • Understanding of, and preferably some experience in web and offline marketing.
