Job description
Project Description
The DHI takes projects from early idea stages all the way through to real, working technologies. This placement will focus primarily on the ‘bit in the middle’ where we have an early stage technology that needs to be evaluated in a simulated environment (picture a research facility with fully equipped GP offices, hospital rooms, etc.). This might include consumer health using wearable devices, such as the Fitbit or Apple Watch, or it might be more focused on optimising the way our health & care services are run – for example by improving how ambulances work or creating devices that allow our GPs give us a check-ups that normally require visits to hospital.
The facility will be brand new when the placement begins. A group of experts will be setup to plan how this space will be used and then to bring technologies in for our first simulations. This advertised role will involve supporting this group – offering administrative support to these experts to make sure their plans are carried out.
The core role will be to act as integral support for this group, arranging meetings, preparing meeting papers and minutes and then keeping track of the actions required to progress projects in the research facility. The successful applicant will also be asked to carry out some basic research to support the group. This will include communicating via email and phone with a large number of our project partners, to determine what their needs are with regards to this research facility. This would then be collated into a report that the expert group would use to but relevant equipment and software to meet these broad needs.
Finally, the student will offer general support to the DHI Programme Manager (their line manager). This will include a variety of tasks to help improve the communication of this expert group with the rest of the organisation. Most of these flexible duties will involve entry level project management tasks.
All in all, this is an amazing chance to be part of a brand new facility, learn the ropes, and gain some paid experience within a team of experts in this field.
