Project Description
There is now a fantastic opportunity for a 12-month graduate placement to focus on maximising the benefits of Shetland as a tourist destination. Specific areas of focus will be the cruise ship market, Shetland’s Geopark and assist with an application for World Heritage status.

Role Description
Specific tasks of the placement will include:
- Review of all Lerwick Port Authority (LPA) cruise ship data for recent years.
- Liaise with LPA regarding shore side logistics, engage with agents and tour brokers.
- Collaborate with Shetland Tourism Association, VisitScotland, Shetland Island Council and related organisations.
- Develop a budget/financial plan with regards to the cruise passenger market.
- Understand the requirements for obtaining green card status for the Geopark and develop an action plan for implementation.
- Create a Geopark engagement plan and develop a full accreditation budget.
- Develop a World Heritage Status award process map and budget plan.
- Produce a fully populated project plan for the whole project with milestones, gateways, established and communicated.

Qualifications
Minimum Degree level. Marketing and tourism subjects preferred but all subjects accepted provided the candidate has the required skills.

- Ability to work independently on own initiative, but also collaboratively as part of a wider team.

- Commitment to complete this 12-month placement.
