Russwood Limited is a supplier of high-quality, sustainable timber cladding, decking and flooring based in Newtonmore. We now have an exciting placement opportunity for an Architectural Technician. This 12 month placement will entail assisting in the development of new innovative products, building projects on site, and creating a National Building Specification (NBS) document library. This role could lead to a permanent employment subject to all the project milestones being achieved.

Project Description
Research and development is a key requirement for Russwood to ensure we maintain our market position and stay ahead of our competitors. This placement will involve assisting in the development of innovative products and building projects onsite, including new staff accommodation unit, as well as testing new coatings for use on timber products and assisting with technical drawings of fixings methods for new Russwood products to be introduced in late 2017.
The successful candidate will also develop a NBS document library to enable Architects to specify our products more easily, which in turn develops a more rounded customer service experience.
The preferred start date is 29th May 2017, however this is flexible and depending on the successful candidate’s availability.

Role Description
Specific tasks of the placement will include:
- Developing and setting up a NBS document library;
- Investigating and assisting in the development of innovative new products and technical drawings;
- Assisting in testing of new innovative coatings;
- Contributing to the creation of new building projects onsite
- Researching how to increase daylight in manufacturing buildings
- Contributing to the creating of new staff accommodation unit at Russwood in partnership with a leading UK University.
Qualifications
The entry requirements for this project placement is an HNC or above, preferably related to Architecture, Engineering, Design, Forestry or similar. Other candidates will be considered provided they have the required skills.

- Good numeracy and IT skills
- Good technical skills and experience
- Enjoy being part of a hard working close-knit team with a strong client focus

- Computer Aided Design (CAD) experience
- Commitment to project completion

- An awareness of current design trends
- An understanding of the connection between wood and what Architects and Designers are trying to achieve
