Mackays Hotel in Wick, Caithness is recruiting for a graduate to take on an exciting sales role. The 12 month role will focus on creating a sales and advertising plan in order to increase occupancy and restaurant bookings.
Job description
Mackays Hotel wishes to look further afield at markets and assess the viability of these markets for our business and plans for further expansion
The successful graduate will undertake a project to create a sales and advertising plan. This will involve research, building a contact database, and recommending actions in the first instance. Following this the graduate will recommend ways in which to increase trade and test offers, tracking the results and recommending a plan for converting business sources.
This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.
Qualifications
Skills / Experience
Essential:
• Microsoft Office and IT literate
• Project Management experience
• Excellent understanding of spoken and written English
• Sales and Marketing related degree
• Hard working
• Resourceful and able to use initiative effectively
• Good interpersonal skills, at all levels
• Good communication skills and a friendly, professional manner
• Can do attitude
• Commitment to complete project and help in other areas
Desirable:
• Understanding of contractual agreements and implications
• Previous Hospitality experience

Mackays Hotel’s has been owned by the same family for nearly 60 years has a long standing quality reputation in the area. The current owner bought the hotel in 1992, prior to that managing it for 10 years. It is very much a family Business with the 4th generation having joined the hotel this year.
The 30 bedroomed hotel has expanded over the last 8 years adding serviced accommodation to the portfolio, 8 apartments and 2 townhouses.
There is an ongoing programme of development enabling the Hotel to attract additional custom to the North of Scotland whilst also providing additional direct employment.
The Hotel is looking to develop new products and services and must ensure that its sales and marketing focus are sufficient for a successful delivery.
