Project Description

As a start-up business, we have some key short-term challenges to overcome and objectives to deliver. Delivering efficient and user-friendly systems is key to ensuring the best possible start for our H&S and Training departments. This opportunity represents a unique chance to be part of something new, exciting and that has real impact on our local and national economy.

Placement Objectives

Working closely with the business Safety Manager and the Change & Training Manager, you will help develop the compliance management systems (quality, safety, environment) making them more user friendly. This will be measured by user feedback. The site also needs to achieve site re-certification to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and you will play a key part in achieving this by the end of the placement. Finally, delivering a Safety Management System that is fit for purpose is another key objective.

Role Description

The successful graduate will work with the site Change & Training Manager and the site Safety Manager to develop I.T solutions that help manage Safety, Environment, Quality and Training processes, procedures and records. They will support and contribute to the migration of Compliance Management Systems from legacy systems to a new platform. The graduate will also be responsible for developing user-friendly front-end pages that ease navigation between applications and documents for Management System users.

Qualifications

Degree in an IT based discipline

Skills / Experience

Essential Skills

  • Extremely IT literate
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office (and application in business environment)
  • Knowledge of Lotus Notes databases
  • Working knowledge of applications that aid navigation between systems
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in developing interactive systems for application users

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of auditing compliance management systems
  • Ability to liaise with people at all levels of the organization
