The Liberty Steel Group, producers and distributors of a wide range of steel products, need a recent graduate to undertake a 12 month project. This is a unique opportunity for a graduate considering a career in finance and accounting to gain paid experience. The successful candidate will establish a full suite of accounting systems, processes, and practices over the placement period. This project-based role could develop into a trainee account position within 12 months.

Project Description
As a start-up business we have some key short-term challenges to overcome and objectives to deliver. Delivering a fit-for-purpose accounting and finance department, complete with systems and processes, is key to ensuring the best possible start for our business. This opportunity represents a unique chance to be part of something new, exciting and that has real impact on our local and national economy.
Placement Objectives
To apply the knowledge gained during your accounting degree to contribute fully to the establishment of this new department.
Role Description
Working within the newly formed finance department you will assist and contribute to the establishment of the essential business and finance systems. From purchase ordering through to invoice payment; from commercial order through to invoice preparation; finance systems, cash book, stock control, departmental costing, product costing, general ledger through to the systems required to report business results and cash performance.
Qualifications
Degree in Finance/Accounting, or Business degree with Accountancy bias.
Skills / Experience
Essential Skills
- Extremely IT literate
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office (and its application in business)
- Accountancy practices and procedures knowledge
- Good communication skills
Desirable Skills
Ideally some relevant work experience within a business finance department, gained during or post-degree (lasting no longer than 1 year after your graduation date).
