Busy B have an excellent opportunity for a talented and hardworking Graphic Designer graduate to join our two existing designers and play a key role in growing our creative team. This 12 month placement will be busy and varied and involves creating patterns, designing and art working products and designing digital marketing materials. You must have strong pattern design skills as well as proven graphic design ability. The role is based in Edinburgh city centre.

Project Description
We recognise that in order to compete successfully in this market and increase sales with the major stationery retailers, we need to introduce more product innovation and re-fresh our ranges more frequently. Our plan would be to introduce 2 new ranges on an annual basis (Spring and Autumn) and we will look to invest more time developing innovative features in our products and packaging. This project will allow us to do that and help us deliver on these ambitions, faster and at the same time, increase the quality of our overall offering.
Placement Objectives
To enable the design team as a whole to deliver 2 new ranges each season. This placement will support the other full time designers (who are creating the look and feel for new ranges) by laying out inside pages and packaging and helping artwork the final products.
To provide focused design skills on digital marketing graphics and messaging to improve conversion from emails and drive more followers to the brand through social media.
Role Description
Main Tasks:
- Artworking product covers, insides, labelling and packaging
- Creating graphic assets for web and digital marketing (social media, banners, e-shots)
- Assisting the design team, where needed, with creative development work
- Catalogue and order form layout
- Creating product visuals to a high presentation standard
- Creating product mock ups to a high presentation standard
- Designing marketing for print (flyers, adverts etc)
- Photography re-touching
Qualifications
We are looking for applications from graduates who are either HND or Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
Skills / Experience
Essential Skills
- Pattern design experience
- Good knowledge of Adobe CC suite
- Enthusiastic, good communication skills and a can do attitude
- Willing to learn and to use own initiative
- Efficient, able to adapt to different tasks
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as closely with the Busy B design team
- Good organisation and planning skills
Desirable Skills
- 2-4 years experience in similar role
- Illustration experience
- Digital marketing design experience
- Product design experience
- Experience of designing giftware, stationery and/or packaging
