person for our exciting projects. This would be ideal for a graduate desiring more creative autonomy. This is a 9 month placement with view to permanent hire, based in North Berwick, East Lothian.
Job description
Hippotrix Ltd started out doing media production and film making and we have now branched out into creating digital toys for kids. We have gained funding, in collaboration with a number of arts organisations, including Creative Scotland, to create new,
artistic, fun applications for kids. Have a look at examples of our work here: http://www.hippotrix.com/apps/seasons/ We have a lively creative working environment and graduate Mobile iOS Developer will have a major contributing role in the growth of the company,
through the production initially of a number of performing arts-related apps.
The main objective is to output key arts-related apps for Hippotrix clients, as well as assisting in the suite of Hippotrix digital toys. Success will be determined by output and contribution to Hippotrix growth.
As the successful graduate, you will work with the Creative Director to get up to speed on the project, and will have the opportunity to work with experienced consultants, as necessary, to give additional training. This will, however, very much be your project and you will be able to take ownership of the creative coding to bring these cheeky, fun games to life.
Key tasks will include:
Coding apps and software development
Testing code & debugging
Assisting in achieving high quality products
Qualifications
Minimum undergraduate degree in Computer Science or other relevant discipline
Skills / Experience
Relevant academic background- Computer Science or equivalent Specific skills & competencies- e.g. programming languages or software knowledge.
Essential:
- Strong knowledge of Objective-C
- Good
understanding of iOS SDK and with Xcode and Instruments
- Good understanding of iTunes Connect
- Excellent object oriented design skills and experience with Core Graphics / Core Animation
- Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently,
take initiative, and contribute new ideas
Ideal:
- Some experience of building iOS apps Fluency with a “deliver once, publish everywhere” engine
- Uses and appreciates a test driven development approach
- Understands Agile methodology
- An interest in early years
