Greenspace Live Ltd, a recognised leader in energy modelling and simulation based in Stornoway, is recruiting for a graduate for a 12 month software development role. The successful candidate will work on increasing the processing speed of softwares, promotion of GSL tools at Ecobuild 15 and improved functionality of GSL tools.

Project Description
Software Development is the foundation of our business and continuous improvements are required to maintain pace with legislation, trends and a drive to improve market position. Our established customer feedback process takes us from our initial market push to a market pull situation where products require constant attention. The graduate will play an important part in such development improvement work.
The graduate will lead on tasks specified below, based on already available user feedback or incorporating findings from market research.
• gModeller – Transfer all code to Java Script and move from Flash which will improve speed of processing. Work package time period of 18 weeks
• gEnergy – Complete user interface improvements for specific usability functions. Work package time period of 30 weeks
• gWorkspace – New features in GWT to enable better user experience and allow synchronisation with local files. – Work package time period of 8 weeks
• Marketing - attendance at marketing events, e.g. promotion of GSL tools at Ecobuild 15
This position is part funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and the European Regional Development Fund.
Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science /Software Engineering is preferred.

• Knowledge of software development techniques, particularly AGILE development
• Knowledge of programming languages [Java, PHP, Ruby]
• Knowledge of data base development [My SQL]
• Proficient in multiple programming languages
• Software development skills
• Positive attitude and enthusiasm

• Organised, flexible and able to prioritise workload

• Some knowledge of the built environment
