Established jewellery company, Chisholm Hunter is looking to hire a Mandarin speaking postgraduate student to join our growing business for a 3 month placement. The role will see you engaging with businesses and individuals in order to maximise sales opportunities throughout the UK and overseas. The role will be based in Glasgow City Centre.

Project Description

This 3 month project aims to improve our business development and account management capabilities in an area that offers many opportunities for business growth. Specifically, you will deploy your skills and knowledge to increase awareness of our brand and 'A Cut Above' standards and establish processes which will create a pipeline of demand from new, Mandarin speaking customers both in the UK and overseas.

There is flexibility in terms of the working pattern for the placement and this would be discussed in more detail at interview.

Role Description

Main Tasks:

  • Outbound calling to Chinese tour operators and tour guides to ascertain potential business opportunities
  • Establish processes that ensure that we can capitalise upon these opportunities and encourage new business to the store
  • Translating marketing content into Mandarin
  • Assisting the marketing team in providing marketing collateral to the Chinese market
  • Work with prospective and current partners relating to Chinese business development

Qualifications

This placement is open to students who are currently studying for a postgraduate qualification and meet the essential criteria for the role.

Skills / Experience

Essential Skills

  • Good English language skills and general written and spoken communication skills including translation to/from Mandarin
  • Competent with Microsoft packages
  • Possess a genuine ability to build business relationships
  • Able to represent a luxury jeweller to the expected standards through general conduct and passion for the brand
  • Willingness to learn
  • Attention to detail is important

Desirable Skills

  • Cantonese language skills in addition to Mandarin
