Company information

Bird.i (www.hibirdi.com), one of the ten hottest space startup in the UK (The Telegraph), winner of the Innovate UK Space Launchpad II, Smart:Scotland and European Space Agency BIC competitions, finalist of the Mass Challenge and SCOTEDGE Wild Card 2015 rounds, and first spin-out of the Satellite Applications Catapult, has an immediate opening for summer internship.

Bird.i empowers everyone to use images from the sky to raise awareness, make informed decision and experience the benefits.

Our subscription service provides up to date imagery and derived content into Google Maps and other type of applications so that every user can make informed decision on their personal and professional lives (saving costs, gaining competitive advantage…)

We access fresh imagery through our partnerships with Earth Observation satellite operators (including the two world leading operators) and airborne & drone operators. We extract the value of this imagery and associate to it a social context, which is defined from on-line locations and events trends.

We bring this imagery and its value within the reach of those individuals and businesses who can benefit from it.

We do this:

  • SIMPLER: An API to be consumed in user friendly mobile and web applications.
  • FASTER: Few seconds to register and access the API’s content.
  • CHEAPER: Subscription service calculated on the number of image views.
  • BETTER: Access to the most regular satellites and airborne/drone data.

Our ambition is to establish and grow the mass market for observation imagery, which is estimated greater than $24bn by 2022.
