Biopta is a Contract Research Organisation (CRO) focussing on the use of human tissue in drug development, with laboratories in Glasgow, UK, and Maryland, USA. We invite applications to join our Research + Development (R+D) division in Glasgow, for an exciting 8-week placement.
Job description
Project Description
Biopta have developed a database of their human tissue assay outputs which will be used as a research tool both internally and externally. The successful applicant will be responsible for populating this database with data generated in Biopta’s laboratories. From this database, marketing material will also be generated. Biopta provide specialist non-clinical drug development services to the pharmaceutical industry.
We carry out research projects using human tissue as a test system to predict the safety and effectiveness of potential new drugs. We wish to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic scientist to join our R+D team and provide administrative support.
The role will be office based. In addition to a pharmacology and/or physiology background; report writing, data analysis, attention to detail and good communication skills are essential. Further training in Biopta’s expert in vitro pharmacology research, such as organ bath, myography and organoculture techniques will be provided. Biopta’s laboratories operate seven days per week therefore flexible working may be required.
