The Edinburgh-based company - which delivers breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack for customers who want to go on a low calorie diet - recruited three ScotGrad Associates to provide support in software development, marketing analysis and social media. All three ScotGrad Associates have now been made permanent members of staff.
With over 150,000 customers, Diet Chef is going from strength to strength and Andrew Veitch, Marketing and E-Commerce Director for Diet Chef, explained the importance of bolstering the team.
He said: “We had a number of projects we were working on but we didn’t have the necessary resource so unfortunately they kept being delayed.
“We thought ScotGrad Associates would be ideal to help us to deliver on these key projects while providing an opportunity for them to gain hands-on experience in our industry. We changed our marketing strategy from focusing on TV advertising to an online marketing campaign and our ScotGrad Associates had an important role to play in terms of creating content and responding to customer comments and feedback.
“Adrianna, Laura and Leon had a very positive impact bringing with them new energy and a new way of thinking to the company. They have also improved our analysis, social media and overall communications. The team also helped develop and improve the self-service software which has increased efficiency and customer satisfaction.
“With their support, we have not only increased our customer numbers by 30,000 but we have also launched two new brands - Diet Now and Prana Protein.”
On-going training is important for Diet Chef and was key to the development of the ScotGrad Associates.
Andrew explained: “We take training seriously and think it is important that our staff learn from leaders in their particular sector. This approach saw our Marketing ScotGrad Associates spending time at Google’s European HQ in Dublin while our Software Developer went to a technical conference in Amsterdam.”
23-year-old ScotGrad Associate Leon Larin is proud to have joined the Diet Chef team. ScotGrad had been recommended to him after he completed a BSc Hons Computing at Edinburgh Napier University.
He said: “I was very keen to join Diet Chef as it was a graduate position in a growing company where I could use the skills from my degree.
“There has been a lot to learn but everyone has been really great and supportive with the help they have given me, allowing me to expand my knowledge.
“One of the highlights of the placement was the opportunity to attend an industry conference in Amsterdam where I was able to meet and learn from the people who developed the technology I am using.
“I was delighted to have been offered a full-time role at the end of my ScotGrad placement and I am looking forward to further expanding both my role and my skills at Diet Chef.”
