The College is offering this graduate placement to a suitably qualified graduate, who will help reshape the College’s digital marketing offering through the creative use of digital platforms; evaluation of analytics; and the production of engaging content. This will require an understanding of market research and will focus mainly, though not exclusively, on the College’s main student recruitment efforts and marketing of commercial courses.

The College is looking for a creative graduate to assist the College in reshaping its digital offering to our main target audiences:

(i)                school-leavers and over-25s looking to return to vocational education;

(ii)              commercial customers (individuals and employers) looking to upskill or reskill;

In addition, the College is keen to make a step-change in the nature of social media content from text-based to more video content, and the successful candidate will be expected to develop this as part of the digital project.

Placement Objectives

(i)                To improve by 10% the number of click-throughs to www.westscollegescotland.ac.uk course application and information pages in 2019-20;

(ii)              To improve the uptake of commercial courses through creative use of digital platforms, thereby enhancing College commercial income;

(iii)            To arrange greater use of video on social media platforms.

You will be supported by a small team of PR and Marketing professionals and will work with an outstanding graphics design team in delivering the objectives

Role Description

The position sits within the Communications, Policy and Planning Directorate. It is based in the Marketing office of our Clydebank campus, and some travel between it and our Greenock and Paisley campuses will be required. Although the main purpose of the placement is the delivery of project objectives, it is also expected that the successful candidate will assist, when required, with the full range of marketing activities, for example, events and PR.

The successful candidate will:

  • Position & manage focused social media campaigns, on behalf of a wide-range of teaching departments.
  • Effectively utilise social listening, analytics and insights tools to monitor and report on the effectiveness of each campaign
  • Research and analyse campaigns, providing insight which will help shape the voice and brand proposition to drive success and new opportunities
  • Work with other departments to help develop effective timelines on campaigns and brand messages
  • Keep-up-to- date with new technology, industry news and methodology, recommending new tools and channels to ensure the College remains at the forefront of social media marketing.


A degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing or similar relevant qualification.

  • Ability to write accurate and creative copy, often to tight deadlines
