Roemex Ltd has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive chemistry graduate to work to develop new products within our product portfolio for production chemicals and drilling and completion speciality chemicals.  This placement is aimed to help us meet our growth plans for the business.  This is a 12-month placement initially and is based at our Research and Development site in Portlethen, Aberdeen

Project Description

The demands for our current product range are such that we require to enhance existing product types but also to expand and offer additional products and services within our production chemicals and drilling and completion ranges. This is required in order for Roemex to maintain its trading position within the market and also to grow business into new markets such as renewable energy.

To this end we have identified specific product development work scopes within two of our product lines; drilling and completions and production chemicals which are required to bolster current product offerings and allow access to new markets in the renewable energy sector.

In order to secure a sufficient level of business we need to add a graduate chemist to our Research and development team to perform formulation tests and performance tests for product development work scopes. 

Placement Objectives

The project will see you assisting the Drilling and Completions group to develop new product offerings for existing product lines and thereafter work with the Production Chemicals group to develop product offerings for corrosion control within the renewable energy sectors in international markets.

Role Description

You will play a key role within the Research and Development team by providing all support to other chemists and undertaking product development scopes of work

Main Tasks:

  • Performs laboratory assessments to evaluate flow assurance, integrity and separation products. This include formulation work and product performance tests
  • Develop new products and proceeds to qualify products for suitability for release to market
  • Undertake Research and Development projects
  • Compiles comprehensive reports detailing laboratory work undertaken with defined conclusions and recommendations
  • Technical support for the Production team and Drilling and Completions

Qualifications

A degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering would be ideal for this placement.
