The Maintenance Department of Lactalis, Stranraer is currently implementing a planned maintenance and automated stores software system, Piranna by Shire. The role we have is key to the transition and future operation of the site's Maintenance function in Stranraer and will help transition the site from a fragmented maintenance system to a fully computerised and integrated planned maintenance system supported by the Shire system.
The introduction of the Shire system is now at the critical go live stage. In order to fully implement Shire, the department would like to recruit a Graduate to oversee the next 12 months of operation and ensure dedicated support and advice can be given to the wider Maintenance team during the initial phase of usage.
The software will provide maintenance with a system for scheduling work where there has been none until now. This will enable us to monitor the condition of equipment, develop a full asset register, regain control of maintenance spare parts and spend which has seen us carrying excessive stock levels and also, enable the maintenance department to provide meaningful reporting information. Many of the existing stock items are now obsolete and have been written off as a result making us less efficient and competitive.
The introduction of the Shire software will lead to significant improvement in the maintenance department efficiency. Reduced down-time, improved OEE, greater visibility of workload and outputs. Engineers will be more focused on appropriate tasks and be able to easily quantify workload in terms of priority and time.
The Shire system will make us leaner as we will carry less engineering stock items and there will be less likelihood of obsolescence within that stock. The Shire system will help us to improve the Engineering department and site OOE and as such increase the competitiveness of the site.
Continue with and complete the CMMS set-up and roll-out across both facilities at Lactalis Stranraer. This will involve the 4 main phases as detailed below together with administrator level support for the maintenance team throughout the project.
Monitor and support the development of functionality of CMMS store management at the packing facility MRO store (this went live in October 2018) together with a final check and debug of MRO stock data for the processing facility followed by going live on the processing facility MRO store.
Debug and final check of the work requester module set-up, complete with roll-out and go-live, across both processing and packing facilities.
Review and development of the existing PPM schedules across both processing and packing facilities with data validation and upload. Correlation and upload of support and reference documents - risk assessments, machine manuals, work instructions and part lists, etc.
Set-up and debug of the scheduling parameters together with go-live planning and support. Final roll-out and go-live for all PPM and associated maintenance functions.
The role will be based in our Stranraer site Maintenance team which comprises 35 people in total and has a 24/7 presence on site. The post holder will be responsible for further setting up the shire system and inputting information to enable it to function. Through the early stages of operation, you will build the knowledge base that will help us to improve planned maintenance and you will develop and provide the expert knowledge that others will need for the continued operation of the system.
Degree level in an Engineering/Manufacturing/Production or similar Technical subject would be ideal for the role.
